Cyber training pays off for Outfox client
We recently had a fantastic reminder of why cyber resilience training truly pays off. One of our valued clients, Jo Lambert, CEO of Stroke Aotearoa, experienced firsthand how our ongoing support and education can make all the difference.
Jo sent an email to their entire team highlighting a suspicious call claiming to be from VISA. The automated message informed her of supposed fraudulent attempts – one for $800 in Amazon vouchers and another for $1,000 in iTunes vouchers. It prompted them urgently to press ‘1’ or ‘2’ to verify the transactions, reassuringly stating that it had blocked these suspicious transactions.
Thanks to the robust cyber resilience practices we’ve developed with Jo and her team over the past three years she immediately recognised the scam. She didn’t press any buttons, disconnected promptly, and wisely verified the incident directly with their bank. The bank confirmed it was indeed a scam, designed specifically to panic people into giving away critical personal information.
This quick thinking and correct response are exactly why we do what we do. By partnering with us, Stroke Aotearoa has significantly improved its team’s awareness and ability to spot and avoid scams and phishing attacks. Our customised training and regular guidance are paying dividends—empowering employees to confidently handle cyber threats.
Cyber threats are evolving, becoming increasingly sophisticated and manipulative. However, as this successful example demonstrates, effective training and regular awareness updates significantly reduce risks. We’re incredibly proud of our Jo’s vigilance and grateful to play a crucial role in Stroke Aotearoa’s cyber resilience journey.
Stay alert, stay informed, and continue building your cyber resilience – just like Jo!
